Screenwriting 101

This 10-week workshop takes you through the ins and outs of basic screenwriting format, language, and structure. Participants will write in and out of class to discover and develop screen stories, learn methods of developing authentic characters, and analyze scenes and story sequences to understand conflict, rising action, and character arcs.

Jason has been writing for film and theatre in Canada for over 20 years. He’s written three feature films alongside frequent collaborator, Robert Cuffley, Turning Paig, Walk All Over Me, and Chokeslam, which was part of the Canadian Film Centre’s Conedy Exchange Program in 2015 and premiered at the closing gala of the 2016 Calgary International Film Festival. In addition to story editing on many Alberta based film and television projects, Jason co-wrote an episode for the third season of the acclaimed Canadian television series, Blackstone. He is also the screenwriting instructor for SAIT’s Film and Video Program. You may also have seen him attempt to act in recent television series such as Young Drunk Punk and Wynonna Earp.
