Feature Focus: The Plan

Past workshop, not currently available

(Dan Crittenden)

Participants will generate ideas that can sustain a feature film and will refine those ideas into solid loglines and one page synopses. From these synopses writers will begin developing a treatment to create a workable, editable plan for moving forward to a first draft of the film. Participants will learn the value of refining ideas before writing and why loglines and treatments are valuable not just for writing but also for approaching producers.

Discussions on the three act structure, opening images, midpoints and themes will be included to give writers a solid grounding to move forward to a first draft.  On completion of the course participants should have a substantial start on their treatments and the skills to bring that document to completion.  Writers will be asked to come to the first class with 3 - 5 ideas for feature films.
