The filmmaker’s most important tool is the motion picture camera. Only with a thorough understanding of camera operation can the filmmaker concentrate on the more creative aspects of cinematography. Shooting entirely on 16mm film, participants will learn about: camera care and operation, lighting control, exposure and filtration, lenses, camera and scratch testing and film stocks. After the film is processed, participants will meet to screen the film and discuss the variations in the different film stocks.
