minutes Chronic is an experimental 16mm film,
It is a dance film that explores bodymachine ideas. This film is inspired
by the work of Etienne-Jules Marey and EadweardMuybridge and other
photographic pioneers who studied motion withphotography before the
advent of motion picture cameras. The new dancemovements that were
created for this film have rhythmical parallels toMarey and Muybridge's
work. Their studies uncovered truths that had neverbefore been known.
The truths they were seeking were scientific in nature, but much more
can be gathered from these studies than just measurements andfrequencies.
Their photographs broke down the most rapid and complicatedmovements
into visible increments and left nothing to be hidden by thelimitations
of our perception. The visual aspect of the film was made usinga photocopier,
which creates a high contrast low-res look that, refers tothe developing
technologies used by the pioneers of the moving image.
