| CSIF Member Night - Roger's Pass |
|
Synopsis: Roger’s Pass is a dramatic comedy about a disjointed family forced to come together under tragic circumstances and discover what really matters most. Dustin Johnson is an artist with big dreams. He is also a terrible artist who refuses to paint anything besides ninjas. He has always lived in the shadow of his older brother, Dave, who owns a successful Christmas light company, is studying for his PhD and expecting his first child with his beautiful Guatemalan wife, Bianca. After Dustin fails at having another art gallery show his latest series, paintings of ninjas with their penises hanging out, Dustin devises a plot to start his own Christmas light company and steal all of Dave’s business. However, his scheme is soon brought to a halt when his father, Roger, is diagnosed with cancer. - www.rogerspassmovie.com In addition to the feature film screening, CSIF will also be premiering the Failed Film Forum. For our first edition, Colin Askey will host a screening of a couple of short films that were less-than-successful and run discussion about the learning curve, what went wrong, what went right and how it's affected the way he works today. He will also be available to answer questions about his first feature "Roger's Pass" (not to be confused with the failed films!). We welcome you to join us in celebration of indie filmmaking in Calgary, and to learn from other filmmakers in this series. We hope the Failed Film Forum will be a open space for us to laugh, cry, and joke about our mistakes, and learn from them to make our next projects better.
